How to Draw a Velociraptor – let’s Get Initiated!
Step 1
We will start this guide on how to draw a velociraptor by starting with the head. Instead, you can draw a little circle and count a dot to it for the eye of the velociraptor. Some line details will then surround this to finish the expression.
Then draw some curved lines above the eyes, and then you can draw the outline of the head and face. Velociraptors have relatively small heads with long mouths filled with sharp teeth. Once you’ve drawn these aspects of the head, we can start drawing more of the dinosaur as we move on to the next steps.
Step 2
To continue this velociraptor drawing, we will draw the back and top of this dinosaur’s tail. The back will extend from the base of the neck and will be drawn with a wavy line. This wavy line will recede and rise slightly to become the tail’s top.
Very soon, we will also finish the rest of the outline of the tail. Next, we will draw the leg of the velociraptor. This will go to the side of the body, and you can use some curved lines for the thick hip of the leg. The rest of the leg will be thin and angular, ending in fearsome claws.
Step 3
You’ve drawn one leg so far in this guide on how to draw a velociraptor, and in this one, we’ll draw the other. This second leg will look pretty similar to the first, but due to the angle, it will look a bit smaller. In this step, we will also add the rest of the outline of the tail.
This will be done with a similar wavy line running parallel to the top outline to meet at a sharp point. Once drawn, we’ll add the final outlines. in the next step!
Step 4
To finish the outline of this velociraptor drawing, we’ll add some arms in this step. The arms of this dinosaur were quite long and skinny, ending in sharp claws that were deadly enough for anything on the receiving end.
The arms will be drawn using rounded lines, and then the hands will curve slightly to end up in those claws we mentioned. Now that you’ve completed the outline of this drawing, we can move on to some final details in the next step of the guide.
Step 5
You’ve finished the outline of this image, and in this step of this guide on how to draw a velociraptor, you can focus on adding some final details. There has been a lot of debate about what dinosaurs would look like, and theories range from them. Be covered in feathers to make them look more like a lizard.
We chose the classic lizard-shaped option for this drawing, and to finish; we added some sharp, rounded stripes on the body. Will you use similar markings for your velociraptor?
